One Community Working Together
Check out our Scotswood Men's Shed video.
Scotswood Men's Shed has been around for almost a year and the popularity is increasing every month. We hope this continues to give those who attend an opportunity to share their skills and ideas in a safe and friendly environment, and also a chance to let them get out and escape their everyday life for a few hours.
Check out the Silver Shantymen who came to our International Mens Day event.
Celebrating the success of men and the hard work they have put into society over the years we decided to host an International Men's Day which took part on Friday 18th November and was held at the Centre. During the event Newcastle College students came in to do barbering, face & hand massages and eyebrow threading. Our volunteer chefs were in the kitchen upstairs cooking up a buffet, we had Silver Shantymen (on the video) who sang great songs and kept everybody entertained. Open on that day was our Mens Shed and men also played darts, pool and traditional board games whilst meeting new and existing members.
Check out our Young Time Bankers video.
The Young Time Bankers are a group made up of children aged 8+ who live in Scotswood. Their aim is to make positive changes in the local area to benefit the people of Scotswood and make it a better place. The group is on every Monday 4-6pm, those children who attend earn Time Credits which they spend on trips, fun activities and courses they want to take part in.

Check out our JAM FINAL video.
Scotswood Centre workers ran a range of activities to engage young people in the west end of Newcastle, as part of the JAM project in 2015.
The Scotswood Centre worked in partnership with other organisations in Newcastle and it was funded through the local authority. Our open access sessions attracted a diverse group of talented youngsters.
Scotswood Area Streategy was founded in 1994 to support and reconnect the local community following the west end riots which destroyed property and trust. We have coordinated the spending of millions of pounds over 20 years and in 2015 are trading as the Scotswood Centre, with a mission to bring together all the new communities in the newly rebuilt Scotswood.
